How to enter

To apply for the Digital Storymakers Award, you must:

  • Register online.
  • Create your story using the Atavist online authoring platform.
  • Hit Publish for your completed story.

Teachers who wish to use the Atavist digital authoring platform with their students must also register (see below).

TO REGISTER

USE THE ONLINE FORM

Simply visit www.digitalstorymakersaward.org/enter/register and fill out the online form. To register, you must read and agree to our Official Rules and Terms of Service.

TEAMS: Teams may enter the award competition.  All participating students should register individually. To begin work on a team project, choose one team member to sign in to the Atavist platform using the link we’ll send you in an email after January 1. To begin building the story, the team members will all use this member’s email and password to work on the story collectively. Be sure to list all team members in the byline section on your story’s BASICS page and/or add a chapter with production credits within the online platform.

TEACHERS: To use the Atavist authoring platform with your students, use the same registration form then send an email to info@digitalstorymakersaward.org indicating your interest. You will receive an email with further details about how to use the platform with your class including a way to share and review the stories within your own group.

WAIT FOR EMAIL

After you fill out the online form, you will receive an email from Atavist confirming your registration.

After January 1, 2013, you will receive a second email with a link to the Atavist online authoring platform. Remember – all entries must use the free Atavist authoring platform.

LOG IN

When you first visit the Atavist authoring site, you will be asked to enter an email address and a password of your own choosing, You must enter that same email address and password each time you use the authoring site.

We strongly advise you to REGISTER NOW. This will make sure you receive all notifications and reminders, plus you’ll be ready to start using the Atavist platform as soon as it is available to award applicants.

Once you have registered, you can begin working on your story.
